Why he might be annoying:

He repeatedly waged war on Austria and other European nations.
He was arrogant and often compared himself to Caesar and Alexander the Great.
He sought to destabilize the Roman Catholic Church and the Holy Roman Empire.
He funded Protestant movements in order to fuel destabilization in Europe to make it ripe for an invasion.
He followed the Ottoman practice of killing any and all rivals to the throne.
He was seen by most of Europe as a huge threat to Christianity.
His sons fought each other for his throne in a series of battles before he was even dead.
Neil Diamond's song 'Soolaimon' was inspired by his name, even though the lyrics have nothing to do with him.

Why he might not be annoying:

He ruled the Ottoman Empire during its peak of power and world influence.
He studied science, history, literature theology and military techniques at the age of seven.
He had a lot of experience in government before rising to power, being the governor of many provinces.
He fought to end corruption and reduce bureaucracy.
He funded building projects which made Istanbul the most architecturally beautiful city in the world.
Almost all major cultural achievements of the Ottomans date back to the time period in which he ruled.
Many scholars argue that Protestantism, without the funding of the Ottoman Empire and Suleyman, would not have succeeded.
He defied convention by raising many slaves into positions of power.
His wife rose to power after serving in his harem as a slave and he shocked many when he picked her to be his wife.
He offered his help to any Muslim nation that was threatened by European expansion.
He ruled all the major Muslim cities in the world.
He is regarded as the perfect Islamic ruler by many muslims.
