Why they might be annoying
They got their name after the Boeing planes that were made in Seattle. The Boeing plant eventually moved from Seattle.
They blew a two games to zero lead against the Denver Nuggets, becoming the first #1 seed to be defeated by a #8 seed in the first round (1994).
That caused nay-sayers to say that the Sonics couldn't win the games that counted.
They hosted the first postponed game due to rain in NBA history, thanks to a leaky roof at their coliseum (1986).
They traded Gary Payton the day before he was to play his 1,000th game with Seattle.
Why they might not be annoying
Their 1979 championship team was known for its balanced scoring attack.
They had a great rivalry with the Washington Bullets in the 1970's.
They advanced to the 1987 Western Conference Finals despite having a losing record in the regular season.
They were among the best teams in the mid-1990's.
They won two games in the NBA Finals against the Bulls, who had the best record ever (1996).
