The Resume

Why they might be annoying:

They pitted a group of experienced players against a group of first time castaways.
Exile Island was brought back, after an absence of one cycle.
The Favorites were chosen exclusively by producers, and were not necessarily viewer favorites.
It had two participants, Amanda and Parvati, that looked very much alike.
None of the Favorites were past winners.
Tom Westman, winner of Survivor X: Palau, declined a chance to participate.
In fact, no one from the Palau cycle participated.
The Guatemala cycle wasn’t represented, either.
Although Jeff Probst was against having Jonny Fairplay participate, he was easily overruled.
On two different occasions, James ate a bat. (You’d think it would have been Ozzy!)
The merged tribe name was based on a fib.
Erik convinced the others that ‘Dabu’ was the Micronesian word for ‘good’.
Two castaways got deep cuts during the game, and each one had to be evacuated due to infection.
Kathy suffered a nervous breakdown and walked away from the game.
Two players were voted off while holding the hidden Immunity Idol.
A torrential rain greeted the contestants on Day One.
The last three standing were all Favorites.
The season provided the most unattractive and least intelligent tribe to date (the fans).
Eliza tried to play the fake Immunity Idol and Erik gave away his individual immunity.
Amanda cried a few dozen times during the last three days of the game.

Why they might not be annoying:

The Airai tribe (Fans) won the first challenge against the more experienced Malakal tribe (Favorites).
Seeing Fans play the game was a breath of fresh air for viewers, compared to recent Survivor cycles when producers either recruited or cast players from a pool of wannabe actors.
All of the Favorites got another chance to win a million dollars after losing their first time out.
They did not have to put up with Jonny Fairplay for very long.
This time, the one hidden Immunity Idol remained active even if its finder got voted off before playing it.
Amanda, the third person to find the hidden Idol, finally played it and saved her ass in the process.
There were so many blindside votes, that no one, not even the dominant ones, were safe this time.
Amanda became the first player ever to go the distance twice, having sat before the final jury in two consecutive cycles.
The Final Four were all women.
Two 'showmances' (Parvati & James and Amanda & Ozzy) sprouted.
When Yau-Man was voted out early in the game, his fellow favorites became tearful.
