The Resume

    (May 28, 1911-June 6, 1968)
    Born in London, United Kingdom
Son of Prime Minister Winston Churchill
    First husband of Pamela Harriman
Member of Parliament for Preston (1940-45)
Wrote 'What I Said About the Press' (1957), 'The Rise and Fall of Sir Anthony Eden' (1959), 'Lord Derby: King of Lancashire' (1960), 'The Fight for the Tory Leadership' (1964), 'Winston Churchill, Volume One: Youth' (1966) and 'Winston Churchill, Volume Two: Young Statesman' (1967)

Why he might be annoying:

He ran repeatedly for Parliament, but the only election he won was when he was unopposed.
Winston twice declined a peerage out of worries that it would hamper his son's political career.
He drank up to two bottles of whiskey a day.
During a dinner on Aristotle Onassis' yacht, he drunkenly turned on his father with a stream of invective that sent Winston retreating to his cabin.
When doctors removed a non-malignant tumor from his lung, Evelyn Waugh observed, 'A typical triumph of modern medicine. They found the only part of Randolph that was not malignant and removed it.'

Why he might not be annoying:

During World War II, he performed missions behind enemy lines in North Africa and Yugoslavia.
He inherited his father's literary talent and had a successful career as a journalist.
His son observed, 'A dinner hostess could be assured that whatever else might happen, the evening would not be dull if Randolph were among her guests.'
