    He went from being a blue collar Democrat to a hardcore Republican.
    He resigned from Ross Perot's 1992 presidential campaign.
    While working on Christine Todd Whitman's gubernatorial campaign, he claimed he spent $500,000 to suppress the black vote.
    It was reported he owed more than $1.3 million in back taxes (2009).
    He was overheard saying he'd like to knock out Mitt Romney's teeth.

    He earned graduate degrees in political science and public administration.
    He helped Ronald Reagan win 49 of the 50 states in the 1984 election.
