Why he might be annoying
He is a devout Roman Catholic.
Despite passing the Budget Impoundment and Control Act which he favored, he regretted how former president Macapagal-Arroyo abused power resulting from the bill.
He enjoys hunting and billiards.
Some think he was elected as a result of sentiment from his mother's death a few months earlier.
Why he might not be annoying
He survived being shot four times during a coup attempt against his mother in 1989.
As a member of the Philippine Congress, he sought legislation to curb the corrupt Macapagal-Arroyo.
During his campaign for the presidency, he reached out to his former enemy Senator Gregorio Honasan, asking for his release from jail.
He promised that if elected president he would 'refrain from imposing new taxes or increasing tax rates,' focusing instead on higher customs duties and getting serious with both punishing tax evaders and smugglers.
