    Joc is his actual birth name.
    He named his kids Poppy and Wilder.
    He was nearly traded to the rival Angels in a four team deal involving the Dodgers, the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins, which fell through due to medical concerns amongst the players involved (February 19, 2020).
    His penchant for performing well in October prompted broadcasters to coin the term 'Joctober' for his at-bats.
    He drew attention in the 2021 playoffs for wearing a pearl necklace.

    He is the son of former major league player Steve Pederson.
