The Resume

    (January 21, 1929-March 31, 2017)
Born in The Bronx, New York
    Adult film director and distributor
Directed the films 'Dirty Girls' (1963), 'Carmen Baby' (1967), 'Therese and Isabelle' (1968),, 'Camille 2000' (1969), 'The Lickerish Quartet' (1970), 'Score' (1974), 'The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann' (1974), 'Naked Came the Stranger' (1975), 'The Opening of Misty Beethoven' (1976), 'Maraschino Cherry' (1978), 'The World of Henry Paris' (1981), and 'The Princess and the Call Girl' (1984)

Why he might be annoying:

His first film, the non-porn revenge drama 'Dark Odyssey' (1961), reportedly held the dubious distinction of recording the lowest box office receipts at the one theater where it played.
He went into erotica as 'kind of a desperation move,' since 'you could attract people without spending enormous amounts of money.'
He used the pseudonym Henry Paris for his most explicit films: 'I'd always say the reason for changing my name was too esoteric for anyone to understand. The truth was that I was terrified of going to jail.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He served in an Air Force photographic reconnaissance unit during the Korean War.
He had a reputation as one of the most 'artistic' directors to ever work in adult films, with critic Richard Corliss describing his movies as 'glamorous, European-accented romances.'
He was the subject of retrospectives at the UCLA Film and Television Archives (2011) and the Film Society of Lincoln Center (2014).
