Cameramen filming fight sequences with him often complain that his movements are too fast to keep up with.
His fight against Jet Li at the end of 'Once Upon a Time in China' is regarded as technically flawless and remains as one of the classic fight sequences in martial arts films. He was rewarded with a Hong Kong Film Award nomination for his performance.
Since becoming a martial arts film star, he moved on to fight choreography, composition, editing, producing and directing martial arts films.
He won a Golden Horse Award and a Hong Kong Film Award for his fight choreography in 'The Vampire Effect.'
