Why he might be annoying:

The original cover of 'Origin of the Feces' was a close up picture of Peter's asshole.
In some interviews, he came across as seriously pessimistic.
He loved cats.
He was usually sarcastic.
He dedicated 'Life is Killing Me' to his parents.

Why he might not be annoying:

Type O Negative is regarded as one of the greatest goth rock bands of the 1990s.
In 2003, Peter and Type O Negative turned down Ozzfest in favor of playing small clubs.
Unlike a lot of goth rockers, Peter didn't plaster himself with gaudy makeup and flamboyant attire(hello, Marilyn Manson).
His rugged sexuality made him a sex icon among goth girls.
Before forming Type O Negative, he worked for the New York City Parks Department.
He joked, 'People ask how I learned to play bass with one hand. Well, with a face like mine, you learn to do a lot of things with one hand.'
