He hired Neil Smith as general manager, only to fire him 40 days later.
He named backup goaltender Garth Snow as his replacement.
He signed Alexei Yashin to a ridiculous contract.
He kept Mike Milbury as general manager.
He allowed Milbury to fire three head coaches and trade away franchise players like Roberto Luongo to other teams for little in return.
He was accused of fraud by his business partners.
Many hockey pundits blame him for the demise of the Islanders franchise.
Why he might not be annoying
He and Sanjay Kumar became the first minority owners of an NHL franchise.
He funded the expansion of the Chinatown Health Clinic which has been re-named in his honor.
He was instrumental in the Islanders turnaround from a laughingstock to contender.
His first moves upon buying the team were signing Alexei Yashin and Michael Peca to long-term contracts.
