The Resume

    (March 1, 1982- )
Born in Washington, District of Columbia
    Restaurateur, chef, and food personality
Owner of the New York City restaurant chain, Baohaus
Host of the Vice's 'Huang's World'
Published his memoir, 'Fresh Off the Boat' in 2013 (based on his blog of the same name)
Host of the MTV competitive cooking show, 'Snack-Off'
Executive Producer for the ABC comedy based on his memoir, 'Fresh Off the Boat' (2015)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was a wanksta.
He briefly worked as a Marijuana pusher.
He was arrested twice on assault charges.
He was forced to close his Ziao Ye restaurant over the illegal sale of Four Loko.
His TED fellowship was revoked for not attending every event of the Technology Entertainment Design conference.
He later compared TED to a cult-like 'scientology summer camp' on The Joe Rogan Experience.
He has vocally criticized ABC network execs over their adaptation of his memoir for television.
He cites the time he brought seaweed to class for show-and-tell and drew a negative reaction as the moment he realized he 'didn't know how to act white.'
His writing style is similar to Junot Diaz's in that the language is both profane and inappropriate (ex. describing his shock at seeing 'pink nipples' his first time sleeping with a white girl).
He assigns himself racialized nicknames like 'Kim Jong Trill,' 'the Rotten Banana,' 'the Human Panda,' and 'the Chinkstronaut.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    He is brutally honest.
Salon columnist, Arthur Chu, penned an article describing him as 'our Richard Pryor.'
He dealt with blatant anti-Asian bigotry as a student in predominately-white suburban Florida.
His father abused him as a child (although their relationship improved as he grew older).
He made the successful transition from lawyer to chef after being let go from his law firm, working as a stand-up comedian in between.
He was voted one of the 101 People You Must Meet by Town and Country Magazine (2011).
'Fresh Off the Boat' placed in the NY Times Bestseller list at #33 its first week (2013).
He delivered several hilarious Twitter reactions to ABC's bizarre promotional graphic boiling down global cultures to the type of hat they wear.
He is responsible for the first major network sitcom prominently featuring an Asian-American family in over twenty years.
He said 'I think we consume the culture of immigrants. We try to be politically correct and legislate to protect the culture... but do we truly understand it? I don't think we're at that phase yet.'
