The Resume

    (April 1, 1983- )
    Born in Brooklyn, New York
Founded the hedge fund MSMB Capital Management (2009)
Founded the pharmaceutical companies Retrophin LLC (2011) and Turing Pharmaceuticals AG (2015)

Why he might be annoying:

While at MSMB, he twice filed requests with the FDA to reject products being developed by biotech companies whose stock he was selling short (2011).
After he left Retrophin, the company sued him for $65 million, claiming misuse of company funds, stock trading irregularities and other securities violations.
He was sued by a former Retrophin employee, who accused him of harassing his family (such as sending his wife a letter declaring ‘I hope to see you and your four children homeless and will do whatever I can to assure this‘) and hacking his Twitter, Gmail, AOL and LinkedIn accounts.
He bought the rights to Daraprim, a drug used to treat AIDS patients with toxoplasmosis, then increased the price per pill from $13.50 to $750 (2015).
In response to the ensuing uproar, he declared he would lower the price, but never did.
He called a reporter a ‘moron’ for asking how he could justify the price increase.
He paid $2 million for the sole copy of the Wu-Tang Clan album ‘Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.’
He was arrested by the FBI on security fraud charges and accused of running a Ponzi scheme (December 17, 2015).

Why he might not be annoying:

At seventeen, he was an intern at Jim Cramer’s hedge fund company.
He donated a million dollars to Hunter College High School.
He noted about the Daraprim price gouging, ‘Everything we’ve done is legal. [John D.] Rockefeller made no attempt to apologize as long as what he was doing was legal.’
He managed to unite Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump in denouncing him.
After Trump said that he ‘looked like a spoiled brat,’ he replied, ‘My parents were immigrants and janitors. Trump inherited wealth! Fuck him.’
