    He flew-out in his only All-Star Game appearance at-bat.
    He spent the most of his early seasons in losing Angels teams.
    His 1972 season was hampered by injuries which led to him appearing in 82 games.
    Despite helping the Yankees spoil Nolan Ryan's bid of a no-hitter, the team lost to the Angels 6-1 (July 13, 1979).
    The Yankees were going to trade him to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Jason Thompson, but Commissioner Bowie Kuhn rejected the trade as he saw $850,000 from the Yankees as part of it (1981).
    He was divorced once and married twice.

    He threw and batted left-handed.
    He was the first ever player to be drafted by the Angels in the Major League Baseball Draft.
    His great fielding abilities helped him to be the first player from the Angels and the White Sox to win a Gold Glove as a first baseman.
    He recorded a .999 fielding percentage in the 1973 season which tied Stuffy McInnis for the AL season record for fielding percentage as a first baseman.
    He was the two-time AL leader for putouts (1970-71).
    He donated his time in charity events and fantasy camps.
    He participated in a charity baseball game the day before his death.
