Why he might be annoying:

In his last season he dropped from hitting .303 the year prior down to .228.
In his only World Series, his team got swept by the Yankees and he batted a horrible .143.
He admitted to Sports Illustrated he used steroids, and claimed 50% of all players did (May 2002).
His career is tainted due to his steroid use.
Just five days prior to his death, he was sentenced in Houston to 180 days in jail after testing positive for cocaine while on probation (October 5, 2004).
Houston District Judge William Harmon, allowed him to go free, crediting him with 189 days already served. He was jailed and rehabed for a cocaine arrest (March 2001).

Why he might not be annoying:

He graduated San Jose State University.
The Houston Astros traded him to San Diego but he returned as a free agent.
He earned $1.5 million more the year prior to winning the MVP than the year he won it.
San Diego Padres GM Kevin Towers called him 'one of my favorite all-time players.'
Towers said that he always wanted to be in the lineup no matter how injured or ill he was feeling.
'He was a great player, but he got mixed up in the wrong things,' LA Dodger Steve Finley said. 'It's a sad reminder of how bad drugs are and what they can do to your body. It's a loss all of us will feel.'
He played in the 1998 World Series for the Padres.
According to his attorney he was in the Bronx helping a friend.
