    (1955-July 22, 2005)
Inspired by Ol' Rip the horned toad
Appeared in the animated short ‘One Froggy Evening’ (1955)
Mascot of the WB television network (1995-2005)
Voiced by Jeff McCarthy since 1995
Dave Chappelle acused him of being a racist caricature.
The WB stopped using him as their icon because he allegedly ‘perpetuated the young teen feel of the network’ at a time when the network wanted to attract twenty-something viewers.
How using a 50-year-old cartoon was giving the network a ‘young teen feel’ was never explained.
His elimination by the WB produced endless ‘Frog Croaks’ headlines.
He was parodied on 'The Simpsons,' 'South Park' and 'Animaniacs.'
The WB lasted ten years with him as their mascot but folded barely a year after getting rid of him.
He was brought back for the last day of the WB: after a montage of stars from the network’s shows, as the words ‘Thank you’ appeared, he removed his top hat and bowed to the viewer.
