She comes from Sinoloa, home base for one of Mexico's deadliest drug cartels.
State police arrested her, along with 7 men in 2 trucks, carrying a cache of illegal weapons and a large sum of money (December 22, 2008).

Why she might not be annoying:

Before becoming a beauty queen she taught pre-school.
She stated her boyfriend, Juarez Cartel kingpin Angel Orlando Garcia Urquiza, kidnapped her.
She explained to police she had no idea of her lover's illegal dealings.
Her pageant's national director, Lupita Jones, immediately distanced the organization from the scandal.
