    He told the Moscow Times about the growth of the black population in America that 'Hitler had some good ideas. He just went a bit too far' (1998).
    All three of his wives charged him with abuse.
    He signed with the WHA solely for the money.
    That signing caused hockey salaries to grow exponentially.
    His official website is nothing but a place to sell autographs.
    He has been divorced twice.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He doesn't have a problem when other players break his records.
    He got a $1 million signing bonus at the WHA and he planned to use it to make the future secure for his family.
    He is known for being gracious at autograph signings.
    He was the second player to score 50 goals in a season and second to score 100 points.
    He ranked #82 on ESPN's Top 100 Athletes of the Century.
    He ranked #8 on The Hockey News' Top 50 NHL Players of All Time.
