The Resume

Why The Tracey Ullman Show might be annoying:

It was FOX's attempt to revive the Variety show format.
Like The Carol Burnett Show, its star would sing in almost every episode.
Its host apparently disliked the cartoon segments that ran between the skits (although she later embraced them).
FOX promoted it for awards over its other original show Married... with Children, which audiences preferred overwhelmingly (it outlasted the Ullman Show by eight years).
Tracey's closing phrase was 'Go Home! Go Home!'
Tracey claimed that she chose the phrase because she couldn't think of anything clever to say ('Oh, you got sore bums. Go home!').
A sketch consisting of a nun, a priest, and last rites was pulled mid-production.
Tracey reportedly pulled the plug on the show after its third season when executives hesitated to renew it for a fourth season (she later expressed regret).

Why The Tracey Ullman Show might not be annoying:

Rolling Stone ranked it as the 25th-best sketch comedy show in its 40 Greatest Sketch-Comedy TV Shows of All Time list.
Paula Abdul was a choreographer for the show.
Its selling point was that it was produced more like a sitcom than a Variety show, coining the term 'skit-com.'
It was a cornerstone of the then-fledgling network FOX's programming.
It garnered FOX its first Emmy nomination and award; it earned a total of eleven over its run.
Its guest stars included Fran Drescher, Glenn Close, Steven Spielberg and Keanu Reeves.
Tracey played a number of different original characters over the show's run - including a teenage girl (Francesca), a Los Angeles disc jockey (Summer Storm), a pro golfer (Kiki Howard Smith), and a Cockney office worker (Kay).
It was the mainstream's first exposure to the talent that was Tracey Ullman.
So, uh, yep, can't get enough of that Tracey Ullman... oh, yeah, and it spun off some show called The Simpsons that ran for a season or two!
