The Resume

    (October 10, 1924-March 21, 2004)
    Born in Paris, France
    Birth name was Monique Tchemerzine
Ballerina with the Ballet Russe and Ballet des Champs-Elysees
Frequent guest performer with the Bolshoi Ballet and Kirov Ballet
Appeared in the films 'The Red Shoes' (1948), 'Tales of Hoffman' (1951), 'Mata Hari's Daughter' (1954), 'The Sign of the Pagan' (1954), 'Oh... Rosalinda!' (1955) and 'Honeymoon' (1959)
Was also a painter, sculptor and author of two novels

Why she might be annoying:

Her father was an exiled aristocrat from Czarist Russia.
    She was a child prodigy.
She had to learn her lines for 'The Red Shoes' phonetically because she did not speak English.
She claimed in her International Who's Who entry to have won the Oscar for Best Performance by a Foreign Actress -- an award the Academy does not actually hand out.

Why she might not be annoying:

A critic wrote, 'She had inherited from her Georgian father a luminous ivory complexion and the carriage of a princess.'
Her first husband, dancer Edmond Audran, died in a car crash (1951).
She and her second husband, Raymond Roi, were married for 51 years.
She was the first Western ballerina to dance a starring role at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow (1960).
She was commissioned to create sculptures for the bicentennial of the French Revolution, the first session of the European Parliament, and the opening of the English Channel Tunnel.
