    Born in International Falls, Minnesota
    Drafted 68th overall by the Chicago Black Hawks in the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft
    Played for the Dallas Black Hawks of the Central Hockey League (1973-76)
    Head coach of the men's hockey teams at the University of North Dakota (1994-2004) and the University of Nebraska-Omaha (2010-17)
    Associate coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets (2004-07)

Why he might be annoying:

    He bears an uncanny resemblance to David Letterman.
    As a result of this, he is remembered by non-hockey fans for his photo appearing on a segment of The Late Show with David Letterman where Letterman posted pictures of people who looked like him.
    He struggled to adapt to the modern style of play during his final seasons of coaching.
    He was described as being too competitive by hockey pundits.
    Despite his accomplishments in hockey, he never received mainstream recognition.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a succesful coach in the high school and college ranks.
    He guided North Dakota to two NCAA national titles in a four year span.
    He guided the United States to its second World Juniors gold medal, ending Canada's run of five consecutive gold medal finishes (2010).
    He enjoyed keeping in touch with many of his former players, citing the most rewarding part of coaching was watching them evolve in the years following.
    He was described as being rather humble, despite his coaching accolades.
