The Resume

    (1963- )
Former member of Focus on the Family
Former chairman of Exodus International North America, the largest ministry attempting to change the sexual orientation of homosexuals to heterosexuality
Wrote ‘Not Afraid to Change: The Remarkable Story of How One Man Overcame Homosexuality' (1998) and, with his wife Anne, ‘Love Won Out' (1998)

Why he might be annoying:

He was a male escort and drag queen.
After becoming a born again Christian, he claimed to have shed his homosexual desires through counseling, prayer and Bible reading.
During a speaking tour he was spotted in a Washington DC gay bar (Sept. 19, 2000).
He denied being in the bar until photographic evidence surfaced.
He then claimed to have merely stopped in briefly to use the bathroom and said he was unaware it was a gay bar.
Eyewitnesses reported that he was in the bar over an hour, flirted with other patrons, and called himself ‘John Clint,' which, coincidentally, was the name he had used as a gay escort.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He embarrassed the ‘ex-gay' movement.
For the rest of the speaking tour, Focus on the Family's Dr. James Dobson provided him with chaperons for ‘support.'
He told the Advocate, ‘Sexuality is not a black and white issue. There is gray all over the spectrum.'
After leaving Exodus International and Focus on the Family, he opened a catering business.
