    General and bodyguard of Alexander the Great
    Governor and later pharaoh of Egypt
    Founder of Egypt’s Ptolemaic kingdom and dynasty
    Portrayed by Anthony Hopkins in ‘Alexander’ (2004)

Why he might be annoying:

    His descendants became notorious for brother-sister incest and killing each other.
    He brought Alexander’s body to Egypt for burial to strengthen his claim as the rightful successor.
    He repeatedly waged war against other Macedonian generals after Alexander’s death.
    He gave himself the title ‘pharaoh’ even though he had no Egyptian blood.
    He had trouble learning Euclidian geometry.
    All his male descendants called themselves ‘Ptolemy.’

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a childhood friend of Alexander and may have been his half-brother.
    He helped Alexander conquer most of the known world of their time.
    He founded the famous Library of Alexandria and made the city a world class cultural center.
    He was generally popular with his Egyptian subjects.
    The dynasty he founded lasted 275 years.
    Cleopatra is his direct descendant.
