Served in the Peninsula Campaign, the Seven Days Battle, the Second Battle of Bull Run, the Battle of South Mountain, the Battle of Antietam, the Battle of Fredricksburg, the Battle of Chancellorsville, the Battle of the Wilderness, the Seige of Petersburg and the Appomattox Campaign
Served as Commissioner of Fairmount Park, Pennsylvania (1866-1871)

Why he might be annoying:

He killed Seminole Indians while serving with the 3rd Artillery in Florida.
He failed working as a civilian engineer and was forced to return to military life.
He was given command of the Army of the Potomac over four outranking Major Generals.
He was often accused of not being aggressive enough in pursuit of Confederate forces.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was wounded and returned to duty.
He never lost a battle he started.
He designed several lighthouses which are still standing today.
Following a dispute with reporters, most of the credit for Union victories went to General Grant.
During the Battle of Fredricksburg, his division was the only breakthrough of Confederate lines.
He defeated General Lee at the Battle of Gettysburg, considered to be the battle which won the Civil War for the Union.
In the years following the Civil War, he worked to unite the North and South.
He suffered from his wounds post war and eventually died from complications to them.
