The Resume

    (December 15, 1936-January 23, 1999)
    Born in Rome, Italy
    Italian filmmaker

Why he might be annoying:

His films were so crappy and cheaply made he earned the nicknames, 'The Evil Ed Wood' and 'The Italian Ed Wood.'
He thoroughly earned (negative) comparisons to Jess Franco.
His films treated women brutally, frequently making them rape and/or murder victims. And even those female characters who weren't killed off and/or raped were usually portrayed as sluts.
He was quite money hungry and openly admitted he made a lot of his films just to make money.
In the best tradition of Syfy Channel, quite a few of his films were ripoffs of big Hollywood hits; in fact his Ator series of films were very direct copies of the 80's Conan the Barbarian films.
    Good grief, what a nose!
    He smoked.
He used over forty aliases, including women's and Asian names.
He frequently featured cannibalism in his films.
He used stock footage in his films that he didn't have the rights to.
Much of his filmwork was simply out and out porn, both softcore and hardcore.

Why he might not be annoying:

Those who knew him personally have described him as 'very kind' and 'warm.'
Without any formal training, he worked himself up from cameraman to director, producer, cinematographer, scriptwriter and even acted in some of his own movies.
He worked in a variety of genres: spaghetti westerns, horror, swashbuckler, sword & sandal and fantasy.
He is believed to the most prolific Italian filmmaker of all time with roles of some type in over 200 movies.
Somewhat counter intuitively, his movies frequently featured very strong female characters.
He died relatively young at 62.
