Hockey Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He spent the early part of his career on some horrendous Devils teams.
He missed the entire 1991-92 season after he sustained a knee injury in a preseason game.
He requested a trade from the Devils, despite being one of the team’s longest serving players.
His play with the Rangers dropped off to the point where he was sent to play with the International Hockey League’s Manitoba Moose instead of the team’s American Hockey League affiliate in Hartford during the 2000-01 season.
He was fired by the Devils during his first season as head coach after he posted a 9-22-2 record, which was good enough for last place in the NHL’s Eastern Conference (December 23, 2010).

Why he might not be annoying:

He scored an overtime winning goal, which secured the Devils first playoff berth after the franchise’s relocation to New Jersey (April 3, 1988).
He recorded three consecutive 40+ goal seasons, prior to sustaining his knee injury.
He was a member of the Devils first Stanley Cup championship team, and was the first player Scott Stevens gave the Stanley Cup to during the victory laps (1995).
He left the Devils as the franchise’s all-time scoring leader, prior to Patrik Elias.
He has a brief resurgence with the Stars, and was a part of the team’s ‘Grumpy Old Men’ line alongside Kirk Muller and Mike Keane.
