He quit the strip to get away from routine and spend time with his wife.
He named the tiger character Hobbes after celebrated philosopher Thomas Hobbes.
He named his boy character Calvin after the philosopher John Calvin.
He is an environmentalist and voiced his concerns of pollution through the strip.
He won a long battle against having 'Calvin and Hobbes' licensed (and therefore cheapened).
'Calvin and Hobbes' is one of the most popular comic strips of all time and treasury collection books of it are still hot items.
