Why he might be annoying:

When he married Lyn Levy, her family disinherited her, and they eventually divorced.
He married Robin Altman and they moved to France where they eventually divorced (1985-99).
He claims he is a member of the C.I.A.
His final big project was 'Gong Show - the Movie,' but was a box office flop.

Why he might not be annoying:

He revolutionized game show TV by abandoning the formula of general knowledge questions or performing stunts.
On his Gong Show, Jaye P Morgan flashed her breasts, the show never made it to the west coast, and she was fired.
The original host of the Gong Show, John Barbour, was so bad that Chuck had to step in and do the hosting.
His concept for the dating game, where one gal questions three unseen guys and chooses one for a date (or vice versa) is still used on radio and TV shows.
Despite his creative games shows and decades of successful TV, he has never won a major television award.
