The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He underestimated the value of the Washington Redskins and his son was outbid by Daniel Snyder.
    He was married four times.
He told a DC reporter that he 'did not intend to die.'
When told that Redskin fans gaze at him in the owners box, he replied, 'Well of course they do. I am part of the show.'
He promoted the first Joe Frazier - Muhammad Ali fight on closed circuit television, which was the beginning of pay-per-view.
His first wife received the highest settlement in history in 1979. The judge who settled the divorce was Judge Wapner from 'The Peoples Court.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He had an exceptional eye for recognizing coaching potential, giving two future Hall of Famers their first head jobs (Sparky Anderson and Joe Gibbs).
When the Washington Redskins were 0-5 in 1981, he called Gibbs into his office, put his arm around him and told him that he had his 'full and unwavering support.' The Skins finished 8-3 and won the Super Bowl the following year.
He wanted to build the new Washington Redskins stadium in Washington, DC with his own money and didn't ask for help from taxpayers.
He built The Fabulous Forum and FedEx Field with his own money.
He owned the Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Redskins, both of which are the most valuable franchises in their sport.
He brought Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to the Los Angeles Lakers.
He built his wealth from scratch, selling encyclopedias door-to-door in the Depression.
He was an exceptional hockey player in his youth.
He didn't have the opportunity to go to college, so most of his estate went to establishing The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, which gives scholarships to kids who come from underprivileged families.
