Why they might be annoying
It took them 45 years to win a Stanley Cup.
Original owner Jack Kent Cooke was born into his fortune and owned the Los Angeles Lakers already when he was awarded a hockey team.
Since the team didn't have any big name players, owner Jack Kent Cooke set out to make them 'big name players' by providing them nicknames like 'The Jet' (Eddie Joyal), 'The Entertainer' (Eddie Shack), 'Cowboy' (Bill Flett), 'Whitey' (Juha Widing) and 'Frenchy' (Real Lemieux).
Wayne Gretzky couldn't win a Stanley Cup with them.
Their fans booed defenseman Robert Blake even though he was traded by the team for financial reasons, not because he wanted to leave.
They usually take a backseat to the Los Angeles Lakers come February, March and April.
After a scoreless tie with the St. Louis Blues, Cooke was outraged that his team did not argue a possible goal scored by the Kings. The puck hit the goal post, rattled around and came out. He said he was ashamed of them and fined every player $100 for NOT arguing (January 1, 1969).
Why they might not be annoying
They were one of the six NHL expansion teams of 1967.
They won their first game 4-2 against the Philadelphia Flyers.
They ended their inaugural season at second place in the Western Conference.
Their home games aren't populated with Hollywood types.
They became the first #8 seeded team in NHL history to knock off the top 3 seeds in the conference and win the Stanley Cup (2012).
