Monarch

The Resume

    (May 28, 1660-1727)
    Elector of Hanover (1698-1727)
    King of England (1713-1727)

Why he might be annoying:

He got the job of king because he was the closest living Protestant descendant of King James VI/I.
He never bothered to learn English.
Even as king, he preferred his native Hanover to England.
He threw his wife in prison for having an affair with a Swedish officer.
Despite this, he arrived in England with two mistresses: a thin one nicknamed 'the Maypole' and a fat one nicknamed 'Elephant and Castle.'
His eldest son, the future George II, formed an opposition party against him.
The Jacobites (supporters of the son of King James II) raised a rebellion against him, which failed.

Why he might not be annoying:

He inadvertently helped England become a constitutional monarchy. Since he was more attached to his homeland, Hanover, Parliament gained more power.
The post of Prime Minister was created during his reign.
He and the government kept England out of war.
