Religious Figure

The Resume

    (January 13, 1957- )
    Born in Cleveland, Ohio
Birth name is Rodney Lee Parsley
    Pentecostal
Senior pastor at World Harvest Church (Columbus)
Book is 'Silent No More' (2005)
    Endorsed John Mccain for President

Why he might be annoying:

    He's a televangelist.
He refers to himself as a 'Christocrat.'
He has gone on record comparing Planned Parenthood to the Nazis.
His church has been accused of violating federal tax laws.
The grassroots organization he founded, the Center for Moral Clarity, has called for prosecuting people who commit adultery.
He was caught on video calling Islam a 'false religion' which America was founded, in part, to destroy.
He said: 'Muhammad received revelations from demon spirits, not from the living God. Allah was a demon spirit.'
His record of giving Islamophobic sermons came into sharper focus during the 2008 Presidential race after he chose to endorse Senator Mccain, leading some to compare him with Reverend Jeremiah Wright (whose association with the Obama campaign at the time created problems).
The blowback from the endorsement - coupled with the criticism over his accepting pastor John Hagee's endorsement - resulted in Mccain disavowing the comments and rejecting Parsley's support.

Why he might not be annoying:

He speaks with a Kentucky accent.
After graduating high school, he worked in real estate and at a pet-food factory.
He started his church in 1977, after leading a Bible study in his parents' backyard while still a college student.
John Mccain competitively sought out his endorsement in hopes of winning the Ohio primary only to dump him when it backfired.
Mccain even tried to walk back calling him a 'spiritual guide' (by which, he claimed, he didn't mean 'his' spiritual guide).
He was treated for vocal cord cancer, but recovered.
He at least makes the claim that he distinguishes between Radical Islamists and regular Muslims.
He wrote: 'The last thing I want to be is another screaming voice moving people to extremes and provoking them to folly in the name of patriotism.' (You know, aside from the whole calling for a second Crusade to defeat Islam thing).
