Why he might be annoying
Upon being drafted by the Lightning, the marketing slogan 'Hamr Time' was used on his poster, which was a ripoff of M.C. Hammer's 'Hammer Time' line.
He was traded to Edmonton in a salary dump move, as the Lightning could not afford to pay his salary.
He became a journeyman player after leaving the Lightning.
He, along with teammates Andrei and Sergei Kostitsyn, were investigated by Montreal police after being linked to a mob ring.
He spent a good portion of his career on poor Lightning and Islanders teams.
Why he might not be annoying
He was the first ever draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
He made three All-Star Game appearances (1996, 1999, 2003).
He was considered one of the best bone-crushing defensemen earlier in his career.
He played for the Czech Republic in international competition.
His older brother, Martin Hamrlik is considered a legend in the Czech Extraliga.
