    His actual name is Salvatore.
    He earned a one game suspension, after he provoked an altercation with Yadier Molina (2018).
    He is divorced and remarried.
    He was a nomad during his playing career, as he frequently bounced around between the major and minor leagues.
    When he isn't wearing a baseball cap, he looks a lot older then he actually is.

    He is close friends with Billy Bean, whom he played alongside many years in the Tigers system.
    He got to hang out with the likes of Roy Rogers and Buck Owens as a child, since his father was a producer of the television show 'Hee-Haw.'
    He served as a groomsman in Bean's wedding, in the years prior to the latter coming out as gay.
    He served as the interim manager for the Red Sox, after John Farrell went on medical leave for the remainder of the season (2016).
    He guided the Diamondbacks to a wild card berth in his first season as the team's manager.
