Why they might be annoying:

From 1969 to 1980, they changed drummers five times, bassists three times and lead singers twice.
Bassist Gary Thain died from a heroin overdose at age 27 (1975).
Lead singer David Byron was fired from the band over his erratic behavior caused by alcoholism.
The 'Rolling Stone' reviewer wrote of their debut album, 'If this group makes it, I'll have to commit suicide. From the first note, you know you don't want to hear any more.'
    Their fans call themselves Heepsters.

Why they might not be annoying:

They named themselves after a character in Dickens's novel 'David Copperfield.'
Their line-up stabilized in 1986, lasting 21 years until drummer Lee Kerslake retired for health reasons.
Joe Elliott of Def Leppard said, 'They were the best band that we ever toured with, either as a headliner or support, because there was no ego, no pretentious kind of stuff.'
Although their popularity in Britain and the US faded, they continue to fill stadiums in Germany, Scandinavia, Russia and Japan.
