Why he might be annoying:

    He looked like a live action version of Chas Finster from the animated show 'Rugrats' during his tenure with the Sharks.
    His coaching style has been described as being too strict.
    He was considered a nomad in the coaching ranks.
    He was fired by the Sharks following a 3-18-4 start (1995-96).
    Despite taking over the Devils mid-season and posting a winning record, he was let go by the team following a first round playoff exit (2002).

Why he might not be annoying:

    His success in the lower tier leagues caught the eye of the Sharks, who hired him as their coach.
    He guided the Sharks to an improbable playoff run in his first season at the helm (1994).
    He is the first coach in NHL history to guide an 8th seed team to a first round upset on two occasions (1994, 1999).
    He posted a respectable 161-150-61-5 record in 377 career NHL games coached between three teams.
    He set a NHL record for point improvement over the previous season, as he guided the Sharks to a 58 point improvement in his first season as the team's coach (1993-94).
