The Resume

    (September 10, 1896-January 25, 1981)
    Born in Omaha, Nebraska
    Birth name was Adele Austerlitz
Older sister and dance partner of Fred Astaire

Why she might be annoying:

She and Fred were vaudeville stars before she turned ten.
She called Fred 'Moaning Minnie' for his perfectionism.
She withdrew from her only film after two days, saying 'If my brother Fred sees this, I'm gone.'
Irving Berlin tried unsuccessfully to lure her out of retirement to star in 'Annie Get Your Gun.'

Why she might not be annoying:

During her and Fred's years in vaudeville and on Broadway, she was considered more charismatic and the bigger star.
All three of her children died shortly after birth.
During World War II, she volunteered with the Red Cross in London.
When he received the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award, Fred said 'My sister Adele was mostly responsible for my being in show business. She was the whole show, she really was.... Delly was the one that was the shining light and I was just there pushing away.'
