Why he might be annoying:

He hated performing in public, and retired from the concert hall at age 31.
He thought Mozart was a terrible composer.
He sang and groaned along with his playing, even on his recordings.
He always played while sitting on a miniature chair with no seat.
He always wore gloves.
He was a hypochondriac.
He once sued a piano company because one of its employees had shaken his hand too roughly.
His posture was horrible.

Why he might not be annoying:

Some consider him the greatest interpreter of Bach who ever lived.
He was fiercely intelligent.
He always did things his own way.
He died of a massive stroke at age 50.
An excellent movie about his life ('32 Short Films About Glenn Gould') was made in 1993.
