She was allowed to run around freely in the restaurants of Leona's hotels.
She reportedly bit several Helmsley employees.
She made out better than Leona's brother (received $10 million) and her four grandchildren (two received $5 million each, two were cut out entirely).
Coverage of the dog's bonanza overshadowed the billions Leona left to charity.

Why she might not be annoying:

She appeared in ads for the Helmsley Hotels.
She brought joy to a woman did not get much of it.
The New York Post reported her windfall with the headline 'Rich Bitch.'
