Why he might be annoying:

He didn't take a very good punch and suffered several knockout losses and many knockdowns.
He wore an Indian headdress into the ring to celebrate his Indian heritage, but the Ute Indians from whom he was descended didn't wear such a thing.
After being retired for 12 years, he attempted a comeback and was ko'ed in three rounds by fighter with a 10-25 record.

Why he might not be annoying:

He possessed staggering punching power and could knockout very tough opponents with glancing blows.
His weak chin and great punch made for exciting fights; he would often be knocked down several times before getting up and ko'ing his opponent.
In his fight with Reuben Olivares, he was down once and Olivares twice, in the first round!
Ironically, when he lost his title and the rematch to Salvador Sanchez, neither fighter went down.
He won the title by outpointing then champion, David Kotey, while suffering with a broken hand.
He stuck to the rules and fought clean fights.
He won his first 21 fights by knockout!
