Her husband ordered the attack on Pearl Harbor which brought the United States into World War II.
She attended the ceremony celebrating Japan’s invasion of Singapore.
She did not attend her husband’s funeral because she was in poor health.

Why she might not be annoying:

As of 2000, she was the longest living empress in Japan’s history.
She was the first Japanese Empress to travel abroad.
When she visited the United States in 1975 she became known as the 'smiling empress.'
she outlived three of her children.
