The Resume

    (August 25, 1905-October 5, 1938)
    Born in Glogowiec, Poland
Polish nun who through a vision was inspired to spread the good news of God's 'Divine Mercy'
Usually known or referred to as the 'Blessed Faustina'
Claimed that Jesus appeared to her in a vision and asked her to spread the word of his mercy; she described that he appeared to her with rays of red and white emanating from his side, a description which has inspired a popular artistic portrayal of Christ
Created the 'Chaplet of Divine Mercy,' a variation on the Holy Rosary

Why she might be annoying:

Why would Jesus wait until the 1930's to spread his message of mercy and order a new way to pray the Rosary?
She was turned down by several convents before she could find one that would accept her.
The Vatican originally did not believe her and at one point forbade devotion to the Divine Mercy.

Why she might not be annoying:

Most people would agree telling people about God's mercy is a good thing.
Pope John Paul II reversed earlier rulings against her and declared the first Sunday after Easter to be Divine Mercy Sunday in the Catholic Church.
The picture of Jesus she commissioned and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy have become very popular in the Catholic Church.
She grew up in terrible poverty and only received three years of formal schooling.
She died tragically young of tuberculosis.
She is considered a hero in her native Poland.
