The Resume

    (April 1, 1848-May 25, 1881)
    Born in Manchester, New Hampshire
Birth name was George Washington Morrison Nutt
    Exhibited by P.T. Barnum
Height was 2’6 at his debut (1862), 3’6 at his death

Why he might be annoying:

He made publicity appearances in a miniature carriage shaped like a walnut, pulled by Shetland ponies.
Audiences suspected he was really General Tom Thumb in disguise until Barnum arranged for him and Thumb to appear on stage together.
He developed a crush on another of Barnum’s dwarfs, Lavinia Warren, but she considered him just ‘a nice little boy.’
He beat up Tom Thumb in his dressing room in a fight over Warren’s affections.
He held a grudge against Barnum for encouraging a romance between Warren and Thumb.
After leaving show biz, he owned a couple of saloons, including one in New York City that was shut down for selling liquor without a license.

Why he might not be annoying:

Barnum described him as ‘a sharp, intelligent little fellow, with a deal of drollery and wit.’
Abraham Lincoln invited him and Barnum to visit the White House; when they arrived, the President left a cabinet meeting to welcome them (1862).
He agreed to be best man at the wedding of Thumb and Warren, despite his feelings for Warren.
