Why he might be annoying:

He clashed so often with his superiors that he eventually changed fields from cardiology to urology.
He joined the Nazi Party (1932).
He also joined an organization to 'purify the German medical community of the influence of Jewish Bolshevism' and promote eugenics and 'racial hygiene.'
He downplayed his Nazi connections in his autobiography.

Why he might not be annoying:

He performed the first cardiac catheterization on himself at a time when it was uncertain if it might prove fatal.
He inserted a catheter tube into a vein in his left arm, pushed it for two feet, then walked to the radiology department on the floor below to have an x-ray taken proving that the tube had entered his heart.
He was working as a general practitioner when he won the Nobel Prize and said, 'I feel like a village parson who has just learned that he has been made pope.'
