He is balding so he looks older then he is.
He had a walrus moustache during his playing career.
He played three separate stints with the Leafs.
He never played in a Stanley Cup Final.
He never won any major awards during his career.
He spent the majority of the 1998-99 season on a fickle Tampa Bay roster.
He has done advertisements for Campbell's Chunky Soup.
He was inconsistent in the later stages of his career.

Why he might not be annoying:

He converted from a defenseman to a forward when he made the Leafs roster.
He remains a fan favorite among Leaf fans.
He was a hard-nosed blue collar player.
He served as captain during his first stint with the Leafs.
His cousins Barry Melrose and Joey Kocur have also played in the NHL.
