Why he might be annoying:

While playing at Michigan State, his workout training was so intense that the trainers would have to padlock the doors at night, so he could not continue his routines.
He divorced his wife and mother of his three children to marry someone younger.
Despite posting impressive numbers with the Flyers, he was often overshadowed by Eric Lindros, John LeClair and Mikael Renberg.
He initially balked at playing in Carolina after being traded by the Flyers in the Keith Primeau trade (2000).
He was stripped of the Hurricanes captaincy mid-season (January, 2010).

Why he might not be annoying:

He made his NHL debut at 19 years of age in a Stanley Cup Playoffs game (1989).
He established himself as a two-way forward with the Flyers.
Despite his initial skepticism about playing in Raleigh, he embraced the opportunity after talking to franchise legend Ron Francis and would go on to play nine and a half seasons with the Hurricanes.
He captained the Hurricanes to the franchise's first ever Stanley Cup championship (2006).
He gracefully took his captaincy demotion in stride, citing it was time for the team to pass it on to Eric Staal and held no hard feelings towards the team's decision.
