He believed that faith was sufficient for knowledge in cases where reason was not able to prove something.
While he lived in Morocco, he was almost put to death for being a Jew.
There is a great deal of myth surrounding his life.

Although his contemporaries were almost entirely Neoplatonists, he was an Aristotelian.
He created a synthesis of Jewish theology and Aristotelian philosophy.
He was Saladin's chief court physician.
He made lasting contributions to many different fields of study.
He was the Nagid, the 'Supreme Head of the Jews.
He was a skeptic and did not believe in demon possession or witchcraft.
He was a tremendous influence on Christian, Muslim and Jewish thinkers of his day.
