    His strikeout numbers went into decline in the later years of his career.
    He was the second pitcher in major league history to throw a perfect game with a 1-0 score, with Sandy Koufax coming before him.
    He threw a combined no-hitter with Mark Langston as the starting pitcher (April 11, 1990).
    He pitched a fastball and a curveball with good speed.
    He was the Angels' Leader for complete games, wins, strikeouts, innings pitched and complete games for four straight years (1984-1987).
    He won the 1986 Angels MVP Award for winning 18 games with a 2.84 ERA.
