Why Maryland might be annoying:

    They passed first the anti-amalgamation law to stop intermarriage (September 20, 1664).
    Along with Delaware, they were slave states that did not secede from the United States
    Temperature ranges from -40ºF (-40ºC) (January 13, 1912) to 109ºF (43ºC) (July 10, 1936).
    The National Bureau of Standards and radio time signal WWV moved from Greenbelt, Maryland to Boulder Colorado (November 30, 1966).
    Spiro Agnew took bribes while a government employee and it caused him to resign as Vice President.
    They had a NBA basketball team named the Baltimore Bullets (1963-73), originally the Chicago Zephyrs and currently the Washington Wizards.
