Why he might be annoying:

    He had crooked teeth.
    His nickname was 'Nego Gerson.'
    His frail appearance at the Campeonato Gaúcho tournament led to speculation of him being in failing health.
    The speculation proved to be correct after it was revelead he contracted the AIDS virus.
    His widow revealed that he was exiled off the Brazil National Football Team in the wake of his diagnosis.

    He was considered a pure goal scorer by soccer pundits.
    He is the first player in the history of the Copa de Brasil tournament to lead in scoring three times.
    He scored half of Internacional's goals at the 1992 Copa tournament.
    He was accepted by his coach and teammates at the Brazilian Cup, in light of his AIDS diagnosis.
    He suffered from a bout of toxoplasmosis, which occurred months after he went to seek treatment for the AIDS virus.
